Anyone can find themselves trapped in a high-cost, materialistic lifestyle which makes them appear wealthy, but in reality stops them building sufficient wealth to become financially secure. I am not saying travelling would lead to saving money, not at all. Traveling costs money.

When someone doesn’t know what is important to them in life, it is more likely to lead to poor financial decisions, which can make happiness and financial security elusive.

Making a bucket list can often feel like daydreaming, especially with far-off destinations like Bali and the Maldives. Traveling doesn't have to break the bank, however, and even if you're living off a modest salary, here are the steps to take to reach your travel goals.

• Use cash to settle bills and not card- "Cash only" should be the mantra.  You’ll spend less when you use cash. This is a proven fact. People spend less when they use cash. It hurts for that money to leave your hand. It makes you think twice when you hand it over to a cashier. It hurts worse to see that money dwindle from your wallet.
• Build an emergency fund. It can make all the difference.
• Aim for short-term savings goals. Make a goal such as setting aside 500  bucks a week or 2500 bucks a month, rather than a longer term savings goal. People save more successfully when they keep short-term goals in sight.

• Save your windfalls. Every time you receive a windfall, such as work bonus put a portion into your savings account.
• Save your loose change. Really! Putting aside all the change you receive after every shopping or dinner, will make u save enough to treat yourself to the fine luxuries of life. Trust me ! You will feel rewarded.
• Don't buy cheap clothes for cheap's sake. Don’t get into the trap of fast fashion. It sometimes make sense to prioritize quality over price when purchasing clothes for the family. An inexpensive shirt or coat is a poor bargain for older family members if it wears out in less than a year, but could make sense for quickly growing children. Consider fabric, stitching, wash-ability, and other quality related factors in your selection of clothes.
• Designate one day a week a "no spend day." Reserve one night a week for free family fun. Cook at home, and plan out free activities such as game night, watching a movie, or going to the park.

NOW that you have saved enough, get out, get on the next plane, grab the fresh coconut ( avoid the single use straw-MIND IT ) and relax by the sea side.
